Malayalam movie ‘Manjummel Boys’ was regarded as a once-in-a-decade wonder. The movie that broke all erstwhile records in Mollywood later turned into a rave in Tamil Nadu. Even three months after the release, social media is still abuzz with reels and photos about the movie.

And now, some trivial details of the movie have grabbed headlines in social media. Many might still shiver remembering the scene that shows how Subhash goes down into the pit and ends up barely alive with his body covered in smut and dirt. Recently, director Chidambaram opened up about some secrets related to this. It is now known that Sreenath Bhasi, who played Subhash in the movie applied Oreo biscuit cream on his body to make it appear like dirt.

“The scene required dirt on the body and the storyline said that the dirt accumulated on the body is only after the rain. So prosthetic makeup was out of the question. Bhasi applied Oreo cream on his body and endured ant bites to complete the climax portion. Ronex Xavier handled the makeup. Even Soubin was shocked to see Bhasi’s transformation.” said Chidambaram.

Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy, Lal Jr., Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Deepak Parambol, Khalid Rahman, Arun Kurien and Vishnu Raghu played the lead roles in the film. The big-budget film was produced by Babu Shahir, Soubin Shahir and Shaun Antony. Chidambaram himself wrote the screenplay for the film.
