THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The third anniversary of the second Pinarayi government passed without celebrations on Monday. The celebration was limited to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan cutting the cake in his office. This government came to power on May 20, 2021.

As the Lok Sabha Moral Code of Conduct is in place, the government cannot announce new welfare schemes. It would also be inappropriate to organize celebrations as the state is going through a severe financial crisis. Keeping all this in mind, the government decided to avoid official programs to celebrate the third anniversary. However, it is hinted that the government might announce some important welfare schemes after the election results are announced.

A special cabinet meeting was held online on the third anniversary day. Many ministers were not in the capital. The second-anniversary celebration was grandly organized in Ernakulam last year.
