MVD with strong action; unfit school buses should not pick up children

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Transport Commissioner has directed the RTOs to ensure that unfit school buses do not pick up children. On Monday, Kerala Kaumudi reported that 3,400 school buses were found to be unfit in the inspections conducted by the Motor Vehicle Department. The commissioner intervened after coming across this.

Officials should check the fitness of the school buses that conduct service. They should also ensure the fitness of contract vehicles. Motor Vehicle Department's 'Vidya Vahan App' should be installed in every school bus. This will be reported to the school authorities in writing.

The MVD said that parents should contact the respective school authorities to install the app and register for it. For queries, call the toll-free number 1800 599 7099. The service of the app is free. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details.
