Mild earthquake in Thrissur and Palakkad

THRISSUR: A mild earthquake of 3.0 magnitude on the Richter Scale struck various parts of the Thrissur and Palakkad districts around 8.15 am yesterday. No casualties or damage were reported.

The earthquake hit Chowannur in Thrissur at 8.16 am. The earthquake lasted for four seconds in Kunnamkulam, Guruvayur, Erumapetty and Pazhanji. The India Meteorological Department has started an analysis to identify the epicentre.

Minor cracks developed on the wall and floor of the house of Koonammoochi native Tommy in Thrissur. The cracks were seen in the work area of the house. The family moved out hearing the noise. In Palakkad, tremors were felt in various places in the Thrithala constituency.
