THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A new guest has arrived at the 'Ammathottil' set up by the State Child Welfare Committee at Thycaud in Thiruvananthapuram. A 10-day-old baby girl arrived at 3.30 am on Friday morning. State Child Welfare Committee General Secretary G L Arun Gopi informed in a press release that the new guest has been named 'Kani'. So far, Ammathottil in Thiruvananthapuram accommodates 605 children.
The baby was received by the nurses, midwives and security personnel on duty as soon as the adoption center received a beep to announce the arrival of the guest. The baby was then brought to the adoption center and taken to the Thycaud Children and Women's Hospital for expert health checks.
Kani is the 19th child and the 8th girl child to be got through Ammathottil from May 2023 in Thiruvananthapuram within a year. This month, five babies, including three girls have come for the care of Samithi via Ammathottil.
So far in the year 2024, 28 children have gone from being orphaned to the hand of their new parents. General Secretary G L Arun Gopi said that if there are any heirs, they should contact the Samiti authorities urgently as the adoption process of the children has to be started.
