MEPPADI: Rahul Gandhi MP and opposition leader in the Lok Sabha and AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi arrived at Chooralmala. Leaders including K C Venugopala and V D Satheesan have accompanied them. They will visit the relief camps in Meppadi Govt Higher Secondary School, St Joseph UP School and Meppadi Dr Moopans Medical College.
Rahul and Priyanka are likely to visit the victims of the disaster undergoing treatment in hospitals. The two held talks with the leaders over the coordination of the rescue operations.

The two had earlier informed to visit the landslide-hit areas but later cancelled their programme. Rahul himself informed that they are postponing the visit due to the unfavorable climate. He had assured the people of Wayanad via social media that they would be visiting Wayanad as soon as possible.
Rahul had raised the landslide tragedy at Mundakkai in the Parliament. He said the scale of the tragedy is not yet clear and that many have lost their lives. There was widespread damage. The center should provide all support to the state. Treatment facilities should be arranged. The compensation announced should be raised and distributed at the earliest.
