The government is showing their lackadaisical side albeit the horrendous details of the Hema Committee report seeing light after years. They will have to answer to the people of the state. The onus is on the government to clean the Malayalam film industry. ‘AMMA’ is functioning like a club and the power groups in cinema are now an open secret.

The shocking experiences of women came out through the report. Such incidents are happening everywhere in the world. It is hoped that the audience will not see the entire film industry as a hub of evil. Those who committed such acts should be punished.

Jayan Cherthala (Vice president, AMMA)

The rumours about AMMA not responding to the issue are factoids. Actors with official charge were busy with movie commitments, since the delay. AMMA will call an executive meeting soon. If the accused are named in the report, their explanation will be heard.

The report may not upend the film industry but it is ideal to file a case. With evidence, I have complained about one producer, director and music director; the trio tried to destroy my family life. Despite filing a complaint with evidence, nothing happened. I can only appreciate women coming out with more such complaints.
