COIMATORE: The Coimbatore Police has come up with a new plan to prevent drunk driving. The police directed the bar owners to ensure that people coming to bars in their cars do not drive their vehicle back home under the influence of alcohol.

Bar owners should ensure that people coming in vehicles to drink have come with their drivers. If not, the police said that after drinking, the bar owners should arrange a cab or a driver instead. The police have informed the bar owners about this on Monday.

During last Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the city police conducted a vehicle inspection and found 178 people driving under the influence of alcohol and had registered a case. The police said that the number of drunk drivers is increasing and bars should also cooperate to reduce this.

The police said that CCTV cameras should be installed in and around all the bars and the owners should ensure that they are working. The police have warned that action will be taken against the bars if they don’t follow the instructions and their licenses will be revoked.
