'I was not surprised about mass resignation, I know how AMMA works'

KOCHI: Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu has termed the collective resignation of the executive committee members of the star organization AMMA as cowardice following the allegations. The actress added that they are running away from the responsibility to answer. The actor's response was given in an interview with Barkha Dutt.

'The first thing I thought when I heard this news was how cowardly they are. They were in a position to speak responsibly on the matter. They should have made at least a small move to solve these problems in collaboration with the government. It was this executive committee that welcomed back the accused in the actress assault incident.

It was this executive committee that sat under the pretense that nothing like that was happening until the sexual assault allegations came out. The government also showed negligence by telling women to come forward if they have complaints. Women will go through a situation where they have to accept the blame and ridicule of the public. After that no one will think about our career and mental health.

It is not an issue for anyone. We did not create these problems. We are not at fault but women bear the brunt of this. We fully support the women who have come forward. I was not surprised that the members of the executive committee resigned. I know how AMMA works. I was also a part of it. That's why I resigned from it. Parvathy Tiruvoth stated that she still hopes for a better leadership.
