Kicked marks on lower belly, harassment for second pregnancy; husband, mother-in-law arrested

THRISSUR: A man and his mother have been arrested in the suicide of his 23-year-old wife Faseela in Irinjalakuda. The arrested are her husband Noufal (29) and his mother Ramlath (55). Noufal had physically and mentally harassed his wife for becoming pregnant a second time. Her postmortem report has found some kicked marks on her lower abdomen.

Her last WhatsApp message sent to her family before committing suicide had surfaced earlier. Noufal and his mother have been charged with domestic violence and abetment to suicide. She had a fight with her husband and mother-in-law on the previous day of the incident. In between this, Noufal kicked her on her lower abdomen and upset over it, she went to the terrace and committed suicide.

Seeing this, Noufal and his mother rushed her to a private hospital nearby, but her life could not be saved. Noufal had not informed this to her family. The woman’s family later lodged a complaint against him and his family. The body was handed over to her relatives after postmortem.

In her last WhatsApp message to her mother, Faseela said that he kicked on her lower abdomen and constantly beat her. She also said that her mother-in-law hurled abuses at her and threatened to kill her. After filing a complaint with the police soon after she committed suicide, Noufal’s family hurled abuses at them. It has been only a year and nine months since she got married. The couple has a child. Her family knew about her second pregnancy only when her mother got the message.

Faseela is the daughter of Abdul Rasheed of Kottaparambil in Kodungallur and Zakkeena. Nine months old Muhammed Seyyan is her son.
