IDUKKI: M.M. Mani, state’s Minister for Electricity, has opined that K. Surendran’s candidature in Konni is out of the desire for money. “Voters in Konni will analyse everything. LDF will benefit from the infighting in Congress.”, Mani said.

Meanwhile as expected, K. Surendran will contest from Konni in NDA ticket. Raveesha Tantri will contest from Manjeswaram for BJP. Yuvamorcha President Prakash Babu will contest from Aroor and C.G. Rajagopal from Ernakulam for the saffron party.

Though the names of other candidates including K Surendran was not officially announced, these names were almost finalised. However, there was uncertainty only in the case of Kummanam. Until recently, there were strong predictions that Kummanam would be fielded in Vattiyoorkavu. However, differences of opinion within the BJP delayed the decision. Kummanam, who spoke to the media today said that if the party insists, he is willing to contest the polls.

Things changed after that and the party decided to field district president and young leader advocate S Suresh in Vattiyoorkavu. Though Suresh's name was heard along with Kummanam, Suresh's response was that he was satisfied with his party work.
