
NEW DELHI: Elamaram Kareem has been elected National General Secretary of CITU at its 18th All-India Conference in Visakhapatnam, with Sudeep Dutta as President and M. Sai Babu as Treasurer.
Elamaram Kareem is the first Malayali to become the National General Secretary of CITU. He is currently the State General Secretary. Previously, E. Balanandan from Kerala had served as National President, and A.K. Padmanabhan, a Malayali from Tamil Nadu, had also held the position of National President.
Forty-year-old Sudeep Dutta has become the youngest leader to hold the National President position. He was previously the National General Secretary and is originally from Bengal. The conference also elected 42 national office-bearers, including 13 Vice Presidents and 23 Secretaries.
From Kerala, T.P. Ramakrishnan, P. Nandakumar MLA, J. Mercykutty Amma, and K. Chandran Pillai were elected as Vice Presidents. K.N. Gopinath and Deepa K. Rajan were elected as Secretaries from Kerala. A.R. Sindhu, a Malayali working at the central level, will continue as Secretary.
