THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second batch of 134,000 dose Covid vaccines has reached Kerala. The vaccine arrived at Thiruvananthapuram airport after which it was taken to a regional storage facility.
The vaccine was received by the District Collector and the District Medical Officer. The vaccine was transported to a regional storage facility in a van that could be stored at a certain temperature. The first phase of the Covid vaccine had arrived in Kochi in the morning on a Go Air flight. It was shifted to the district storage centers by a team led by the District Collector. The first batch consisted of 25 boxes.
Covshield vaccines from the Pune Serum Institute of India were flown to Kochi Airport and Thiruvananthapuram Airport. 1,80,000 doses of vaccines delivered to Kochi have been delivered to Ernakulam Regional Vaccine Store, 1,19,500 doses of vaccines delivered to Kozhikode Regional Vaccine Store and 134,000 doses have been delivered to Thiruvananthapuram Regional Vaccine Store. Mahe has 1,100 doses of vaccine from Kozhikode.
As soon as the vaccine reached the regional storage centers, the procedures were followed and distributed to the districts. The vaccine will be delivered from the Regional Vaccine Store to the respective District Vaccine Stores. From there the vaccine is delivered to the concerned vaccination centers as required.

Thiruvananthapuram 64,020, Kollam 25,960, Pathanamthitta 21,030, Alappuzha 22,460, Kottayam 29,170, Idukki 9,240, Ernakulam 73,000, Thrissur 37,640, Palakkad 30,870, Malappuram 28,890, Kozhikode 40,970, Wayanad 9,590, Kannur 32,650 and Kasaragod 6,860.
The first phase of vaccination will be conducted in 133 centers in the state on Saturday. All centers are equipped with systems for covid vaccination. So far 3,68,866 people have registered for Covid vaccination. There are 1,73,253 registered in the government sector and 1,95,613 in the private sector.
