THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sri M, the founder of the Satsang Foundation, revealed that he had mediated peace talks between the CPM and the RSS to resolve the conflict in Kannur. Speaking to a leading online media, Sri M also reacted to the controversy over the state government's allotment of land for his yoga center.

According to Sri M, two meetings were held to restore peace in Kannur following the RSS-CPM clash in the district when Oommen Chandy was the Chief Minister. Pinarayi Vijayan and other CPM leaders had attended the two meetings held in Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur. RSS leader Gopalankutty and other leaders had also attended the meetings. Sri M said that the move was meant for the good of Kerala and had no political motives.

"I decided to mediate the peace talks because of my acquaintances in the CPM and the RSS. I knew that conflict in Kannur could be put to an end only if the two groups sit together and discuss the matter. That’s why I tried it. At that time, the CPM District Secretary Jayarajan expressed interest in the peace talks. In Delhi, the RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat also responded positively. That is how I contacted the leaders of both parties in Kerala. I held talks with Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in the CPM and Gopalankutty in the RSS. Apart from Pinarayi, Jayarajan and Kodiyeri were also present at the meeting in Kannur. The meeting ended with the decision to restore peace. We celebrated peace in Kannur," Sri M said. He added that there was no political motive behind the peace talks.

Sri M said that he had applied for the land for the Satsang Foundation a month ago. "The idea of having a yoga center in the land where I was born forced me to submit the application. I even thought of giving up the land when I first came to know about the controversy. Now, I have decided to go ahead with the yoga center project. I can say that the land will be used for a good cause," he added.
