Woman burnt to death at husband's house in Palakkad; husband having extramarital affair, family allege murder

PALAKKAD: Relatives level serious allegations against a man after his wife died of burns at his house. The woman has been identified as Shruthi, wife of Sreejith of Karappad. Her father Sivan alleged that his daughter was burnt to death.

Her father said there were some problems between the two earlier. Sreejith has an extramarital affair. The problems started after Shruthi questioned this. A dispute that broke out led to the murder. Her father said they would lodge a complaint with the police seeking a detailed investigation.

The police had earlier registered a case of unnatural death in the incident. There are indications that the police had recorded her statement. She was found with burns on June 18 at Sreejith’s house in Kizhakkencheri. It was Sreejith who took her to the hospital. She succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical College.

She is the daughter of Sivan and Mary of Mangalamdam. The couple got married 12 years back. The couple has two children.
