PALAKKAD: A complaint has been lodged in connection with the irregularities noticed in the mid-day meal scheme at Pathiripala Government Higher Secondary School. Reports that came in said an inspection by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission noticed anomalies of Rs 25 lakh.

Teacher Prasanth is in charge of the scheme. PTA officials lodged a complaint with the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission alleging that Prasanth has a role in the irregularities. Following that, the commission conducted an inspection.

The commission took the statement of Prasanth, officials of the education department and vendors who gave things to the school. The commission said the fraud happened between 2013 and 2018 and that strict action will be taken against the guilty.

Indications are that the bills in the name of non-existent institutions were given in the account of the purchase of rice and other items. Meantime, Prasanth has denied all the allegations against him.
