Kannur University controversy; Deficiencies will be resolved, nothing wrong in including Golwalkar and Savarkar in syllabus, says VC

KANNUR: Kannur University Vice Chancellor Dr Gopinath Raveendran said the inclusion of the writings of RSS leaders Golwalkar and Savarkar in the syllabus will not be frozen. He opined that there are no deficiencies in the syllabus. A two-member independent expert committee was appointed to study the shortcomings of the subject.


The vice-chancellor of the university said in a press conference that in order to study a subject, one should know the writings of those involved in it and there is nothing wrong in including the writings of Savarkar and Golwalkar. Dr. Gopinath Raveendran opined that there is no saffronization in the syllabus and students should learn about everything. He said a report on the controversy has been given to the minister of higher education.
