Guidelines for ex-gratia to families of Covid victims will be revised, present list will also change, says health minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George said the guidelines in giving compensation to the kin of Covid victims will be revised. The minister while talking to the media said that the existing list of deaths would be revised and a comprehensive new list would be published soon.


The centre had revised the norms asserting that those who die within 30 days of being confirmed by Covid to be included in the list of Covid deaths. That is why the state is also making changes in the list of Covid deaths. The Centre had yesterday informed the Supreme Court that an amount of Rs 50,000 would be paid as compensation to the families of those who die of the pandemic. The Centre had directed to pay this amount from the State Disaster Response Fund.
