KOCHI: The high court has directed the ED to inform their stand within November 11 on taking over the probe in the Kodakara hawala case. Justice K Haripal, who heard the case, said the time won't be extended. The Central government had sought more time for ASG to appear in the case. The lawyer for the petitioner, Salim Madavoor, pointed out that ED had been given four extensions to reply. In view of this, the court gave strict directions to reply.

Loktantrik leader Salim Madavoor had approached the court seeking an enforcement inquiry into the case of money laundering in Kodakara alleging the money was brought in for Assembly elections. The probe team had recently recovered more money in connection with the case. So far, Rs 1 crore 47 lakh has been recovered in the Rs 3.5 crore robbery case. After the charge sheet was filed, further probe was initiated to find the remaining robbery money.
