KOZHIKODE: Two employees who cut off the signal wires of a railway signal to settle personal vendetta with a senior engineer have been sacked. Praveen Raj and Jinesh, employees of Kozhikode Feroke station, were sacked from the service. The Railways said it took action against the employees for serious violations. A case registered by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) against the two is pending before the court. The incident took place on March 24.

The accused cut the signal wires on the railroad tracks between Feroke station and Vellayil Station. They cut the signal wires in five places. In addition, the signals were exchanged. It was learned from the outset that the crime was committed by persons who had received detailed training from the Railways. The action was taken against the employees following an investigation by a senior divisional officer of the Railway Signal and Telecommunications Division into the incident.

Train traffic on the route was disrupted for more than three hours after the signals were changed. The CJM has filed a chargesheet in the case lodged against them by Kozhikode RPF. The two were arrested the next day but were released on bail within two days. The two were then transferred to Palakkad and Mangalore.
