As private veterinary hospitals get popular, pet animals can avail of five-star treatment across Kerala

KOCHI: Private pet clinics and veterinary clinics are getting popular by providing high quality treatment for pets. There are more than 100 private hospitals as of now. Most of these are multi-storied buildings with state-of-the-art facilities at a cost of crores.

Ernakulam district is leading with 17 private clinics. Wayanad has the lowest - three. There are also private hospitals that treat livestock. Private clinics are gaining popularity due to poor sanitation in government veterinary hospitals, unavailability of doctors on time and lack of modern equipment.

Doctors do not want government service
Most of the young veterinarians are turning to the dream of owning their own clinics. Together with these experienced and retired doctors, it can form into a large clinic. There are hospitals in Kochi with the services of seven doctors and more than 15 staff.
