NEW DELHI: A running public transport bus caught fire in Delhi. The CNG bus belongs to the Delhi Transport Corporation. A major tragedy was averted as there were no passengers inside the bus. The cause of the fire is not clear. The incident took place around 2.30 pm. The blaze, which was accompanied by black smoke, caused extensive damage to two nearby shops.
The fire was brought under control after eight fire engines worked for two hours. The bus was traveling from Anand Vihar to Mehrauli.
Electric vehicles have been gutted recently in a similar incident. Four electric scooters, including those parked on the roadside, have caught fire in the past week. These scooters were manufactured by Ola, a leading company. The reason behind the fire incidents are being investigated, but it is doubtful whether there were any sabotage attempts behind it. In the last few days, three incidents of electric scooters burning have been reported from Tamil Nadu and another from Maharashtra.
