Customs raid at Thrikkakara municipality vice chairman’s house

KOCHI: There was a customs raid at the house of K K Ibrahim Kutty, vice chairman of Thrikkakara municipality. The search was after gold was found in a meat cutting machine. It has been hinted that his son has a role in gold smuggling.

The gold was seized when tried to smuggle the metal hid in meat cutting machine on Saturday night at the Nedumbassery Airport. The customs intelligence seized 2.25 kilos of gold that came in a cargo flight from Dubai.

The search was conducted based on a secret information. Nakul, a native of Thrikkakara, who came to receive the parcel has been taken into custody. The machine was imported for Thuruthummel Enterprises in Ernakulam.
