THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former VC Kuncheria P Isaac of the Technical University, who came to support SilverLine in the alternative discussion of the People's Defense Committee, rejected the project. The Silverline Plan Document cannot be called as DPR without detailed drawing, design and estimate. It can only be called as feasibility study report. The concern that the Silver Line will divide Kerala into two parts, South and North, is correct. Consideration should be given to straightening the existing railway tracks and constructing two new lines. He said a technical committee should be set up at the government level to look into the pros and cons of the SilverLine.

It is not practical to quarrel with the railways and to build own track, clarified Prof. RVG Menon. The government should give priority to doubling of the path. SilverLine is a point-to-point transportation system not suitable for Kerala. Long-distance and express trains will have to run on two new tracks with no curves. The flow of water would be disrupted when the mounds were formed up to a height of 17 metres, said Joseph C Mathew.
