THRIUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have found a student of Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy in Kanyakumari after she complained that her trainer tried to harass her during a flight training. The family lodged a complaint with the Valiyathura police on Friday that the Kannur native was missing. Her mobile was switched off after sending a message to relatives that she is going to commit suicide.
The police traced the mobile signal and thus found the girl yesterday morning. The girl testified that she was insulted for filing the complaint and left the place because of that grief. She was produced before the magistrate and was released with her parents.
She filed a complaint in March that the Chief Flying Instructor had tried to harass her in January. He was accused of misbehaving and repeatedly speaking in a sexual manner. Valiyathura police registered a case but he could not be arrested as the high court had granted anticipatory bail. She first approached the internal grievance redressal committee of the academy. But her complaint was rejected and later lodged a complaint with the police.
Relatives says that she suffered severe mental torture after complaining to the committee and they tried to destroy her educational documents. Academy officials have denied the allegations. The coach explained that she did not excel in training and that was the reason for the complaint.
