KOCHI: With one day to go before the end of the campaign in Thrikkakara, the leaders of various fronts are busy counting the votes in their favour. They are also trying to figure out the possibility of a coup.

The campaign for the election will end tomorrow. Senior leaders and ministers visited every home, flat and institution seeking votes for their candidate. The fronts are also conducting campaigns at the grassroots level by focusing on booths. Leaders are also trying to turn the votes of neutral voters in their favour by bringing in personalities who can influence the voters.

Majority will increase, says UDF

The UDF is confident of victory. The aim is to secure a majority greater than what PT Thomas received. According to UDF leaders, apart from Thrikkakkara's emotional connection with PT Thomas, the election result will reflect anti-government sentiment and opposition to K-Rail. Meanwhile, some leaders are concerned that the door-to-door visits of LDF leaders, including ministers, will be reflected in the result.

Will win back Thrikkakkara, says LDF
The LDF is hoping to win back the constituency. The LDF is asking the people of Thrikkakara if they need an MLA of the ruling party to make development possible. The LDF is also hoping to get minority votes in the constituency. Attempts are also being made to garner the votes of neutrals and professionals. The assessment of the Front is that the moves made by the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan by camping in Thrikkakkara and taking part in the election campaign will work in favour of the LDF.

NDA to increase vote share
The NDA aims to increase its vote share. The BJP and NDA constituent parties have an estimated 21,000 votes in the constituency. The NDA is also hoping to garner Christian votes through the support given to PC George. The NDA expects to get between 25,000 and 30,000 votes.

Anxiety and hope in Twenty20 vote

The political front formed by the Twenty20 and the Aam Aadmi Party has called for a vote of conscience. The front's support will be crucial in determining the winner of the election. The UDF hopes that the Twenty20 will support them as it is strongly opposed to the CPM. The LDF believes that the Twenty20 supporters will help the LDF candidate, a doctor.
