THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are incidents of favouritism in the Travancore Devaswom Board as huge age relaxation is being given for those who have worked as personal staff of ministers and other dignitaries for the post of clerk.
The Devaswom Recruitment Board has announced that those who have served on the personal staff of ministers, leader of the opposition, government chief whip / speaker / deputy speaker/chairmen of finance committees up to the age of 50 can apply. However, general category candidates can apply up to 36 years and reserved category candidates up to 40 years. The notification does not specify the number of years of work in order for the relaxation to be valid. Therefore, those who are members of the personal staff for months or days will also get relief.
The Travancore Devaswom Board has announced a vacancy for the post of LD clerk/subgroup officer for the existing 50 vacancies. The application was invited on May 18. SSLC or equivalent qualification is required. The salary scale is Rs 19000-43600. The move is to apply this relaxation for upcoming vacancies as well.
Grace marks for temporary posts
Applicants who have worked or have done temporary/daily pay on the same post will be given grace marks up to a maximum of 5 marks for every three years completed on the basis of length of service.
Organizations to approach court
Opposition group leaders said the recruitment board's decision will be questioned in court. They also said that it is an attempt to get rid of the students who are studying and appearing for the exams.
