KOCHI: Special security has been arranged in Kochi city for the chief minister, who will arrive for attending an official function. Tight security under five assistant commissioners has been arranged in the city. Huge police forces have been deployed at the guest house and venues. The police is on high alert as two BJP activists had waved black flags at the chief minister, even amidst tight security.

According to sources, journalists have been instructed not to wear black masks. However, those wearing black masks have not been denied entry to the Jawaharlal Nehru Kaloor Metro station, where the chief minister’s first event is scheduled to take place. The organizers have provided blue surgical masks at the venue.

Reports suggest that the Youth Congress and Yuva Morcha activists will stage protests at the chief minister’s programme venues. More than 100 policemen have been deployed at the first programme venue. As per the direction of Kochi city police commissioner C H Nagaraju, four ASPs and seven SHOs have been deployed in the area. Tight security has also been arranged at the second venue. However, unlike other areas, there are no restrictions for journalists within the compound venue.

Earlier, police had closed the KK Road and the road nearby General Hospital in the wake of the chief minister’s event in Kottayam. The move had caused a lot of difficulties for the public and students resulting in disputes between the locals and the police.
