Two arrested for beheading tailor has terror links, Rajasthan on high alert

UDAIPUR: Reports said the accused nabbed for beheading a tailor for his post supporting former BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s remarks on Prophet Mohammed, has links with some terrorist groups. Riyaz Attari (38) of Bhilwara and Ghous Mohammed (39) of Udaipur who beheaded tailor Kanhaiya Lal were nabbed from Rajsamand. Hints of their terrorist connection were obtained from their social media posts. National media reported that they have links with the militant group ISIS. The hints to ISIS came from pictures shared by one of the accused on Facebook. Apart from this, he is also linked to a person arrested from Rajasthan having ISIS links recently. Meantime, India Today reported that the accused have links with a Pakistan-based militant group.

Kanhaiya Lal, the owner of a tailoring shop, was attacked by them while he was taking measurements. The murderers hacked him from the front and back and then beheaded him. They also circulated the visuals of it. A curfew has been imposed in all districts of Rajasthan following the incident. Security has been beefed up in Udaipur. Internet was suspended for 24 hours. The NIA team is also collecting information as per the directions of the union home ministry. Both the accused are lodged in the Charbhuja police station lockup in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan.

Following the murder, some incidents of violence were witnessed. Chief Minister Ashok Gellot called on the people to remain calm to bring the situation under control. He said it was an unfortunate incident. Kanhaiya Lal had posted on social media a few days back in favour of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. The incident is revenge for this. There was a dispute between the two parties here over the controversial post. It is learned that Kanhaiya Lal was questioned by the police yesterday. There are reports that Kanhaiya Lal had sought police protection following the threat, but the police did not take it seriously.
