YouTuber’s suicide in Aluva due to debt, family to lodge complaint

THRIKKAKARA: The family of the vlogger, who committed suicide after threatened by a usurer, will lodge a complaint with the Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner. Abdul Shukoor (49) of Kakkanad was found hanging in a private lodge in Aluva on Wednesday night.

The suicide note recovered from the lodge said that he had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from Chembumukku native Rahim alias savala Rahim, a seller in Ernakulam market and a usurer, in 2015. The note said that despite repaying around Rs 15 lakh with interest, Rahim was constantly threatening him and his family.

Four suicide notes written separately for collector, commissioner and inspector were obtained. The body was handed over to his relatives after the post-mortem. He leaves behind his wife Rasheeda and son Fahadh, a degree student of Bharath Matha College.
