THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: If willing to pay, the government will provide space and facilities for mass-rearing cows. Necessary maintenance systems will also be prepared. The system of setting up cow rearing centres of several persons in one place will be named Dairy Park. Anyone can run a dairy farm just like firms are run in IT parks. The aim is to attract young people to this sector. Individuals, associations and self-help groups will get the opportunity. Arrangements will be made to facilitate the maintenance of the dairy farm, the treatment of cows, and the sale of milk.
The Kerala Livestock Development Board has decided to implement the park on its own 10 acres in Kolahalamedu, Idukki. An expert committee will soon be appointed to prepare a detailed project report. The amount will be sanctioned based on the report. The dairy park will be set up in a year.
Authorities are also considering starting dairy parks across the state if panchayats and municipalities provide at least five acres.
All facilities under one roof
