All these are man-made disasters, why pay toll when people die,’ HC seeks explanation from collectors

kerala-high-court

KOCHI: The district collectors should give an explanation in case of accidents due to potholes on the national highway. These are all man-made disasters. The court asked who is responsible for this. The plea was considered by a bench led by Justice Devan Ramachandran.

Why should toll be paid when people die? Who should prevent the collection of toll? The court also said the vigilance director should appear online on August 31st. The collectors of Thrissur and Ernakulam had given a report as per the instructions of the court. The Thrissur Collector's report said there was a lapse on the Mannuthi-Karukutti national highway. The report also stated that there was no responsible person when the road work was going on.
