MVD seizes vehicles used for stunts in colleges as part of Onam celebrations

THODUPUZHA: The vehicles which had been modified and used for stunts, as part of the college Onam celebrations, were taken into custody. Three vehicles, including a recovery vehicle, were taken into custody by the Motor Vehicle Department and the police.

The vehicles were seized from the road in front of Thodupuzha Newman College at 10 am on Friday. Motor Vehicle Department and Enforcement, Thodupuzha sub-RTO team and police reached the spot and took the vehicles into custody. Both the car and the Jeep had undergone an alteration. A case has been registered against the vehicle owners.

The Department of Motor Vehicles had issued a warning the other day not to take modified vehicles to schools, colleges and other places as part of the Onam celebrations. The department had warned that such vehicles would be taken into custody. Officials of the Motor Vehicle Department had also warned that a special inspection would be conducted to prevent such practice. There are indications that the registration of such vehicles will be canceled for one year. In addition to this, the notification reads that the driver's license will also be suspended.
