Heavy rains likely to lash state till Saturday; yellow alert in nine districts today, exams postponed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain is likely to lash the state today. Yellow alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode.

Cyclonic storm over Andaman Sea will become low pressure in 36 hours. Rain will continue in the coming days. Yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur tomorrow and on Friday in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.

The Meteorological Centre has warned that the rain will continue till Saturday. Meantime, due to the continued heavy rains, the sports fitness and physical tests for the post of police constable, which was scheduled to be held till October 21 in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha have been postponed.
