Three youths arrested at Thrissur for trying to smuggle ganja worth Rs.5 lakhs on train

THRISSUR: Three youths have been nabbed at Thrissur railway station for trying to smuggle ganja on train. The arrested are Neyyattinkara natives, Bijoy (25), Livingston (21), and Mahesh (20). They were arrested after a combined search by the Palakkad RPF Crime Intelligence wing, Thrissur RPF, and Thrissur Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotics Special Squad.

They youths tried to smuggle the banned substance on the Chennai – Thiruvananthapuram Mail. They were on the journey from Chennai to Aluva. The preliminary investigation found that the trio is considered as a main link in the ganja smuggling gang from Vishakhapatnam to Kerala. The confiscated ganja is worth Rs.5 lakhs. They were caught with 10.25 kg of the substance.

The Excise have registered a case against the accused and brought to court. They have been remanded.
