Four-year-old caught in currents rescued in Kuttalam, Tuticorin native turns saviour

TENKASI: A four-year-old girl caught in the currents at Kuttalam has been rescued. Harini, daughter of Navneeth Krishnan of Palakkad was caught in the currents. The child swept away was rescued by Vijaya Kumar, a native of Tuticorin. The incident happened Thursday morning at old Kuttalam.

Navneeth Krishnan and his wife had reached Kuttalam with their two children. The couple left their two children in the children's bathing area just below the main waterfalls and they went there. The children while taking a bath, reached a place having strong currents. Harini slipped and fell down from there. Seeing the child floating, the people bathing there created an uproar and Vijaya Kumar, who was standing nearby, rescued her. Harini suffered a minor injury on her face and was admitted to Tenkasi District Hospital. The child was discharged from the hospital after given first-aid.

Due to heavy rains in Kuttalam area in the last few days, there was strong water currents. The Tamil Nadu Police had informed not to leave children in places with good flow.
