PATHANAMTHITTA: Noted film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan has resigned from the chairman post of K R Narayanan Institute of Visual Science and Arts in Kottayam. Adoor told media that he had handed his resignation to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Adoor’s resignation is after the resignation of Shankar Mohan from the post of director of the institute and the controversies related to it. Adoor was unhappy with the controversies that led to Shankar Mohan's resignation. His tenure as chairman of K R Narayanan Institute is till March 31.

Shankar Mohan resigned amid the caste discrimination controversy at the institute. After contacting Adoor Gopalakrishnan, he went directly to the chief minister's office and submitted his resignation letter. Shankar Mohan's resignation came before the release of the report of the commission appointed by the government to investigate the complaints of caste discrimination.
