LUCKNOW: Shaligram stones considered to be a representation of Lord Vishnu, have reached Ayodhya. The stones were brought from Kali Gandaki River in Nepal for making the idols of Ram and Sita.
The stones were received in a festive manner led by the priests and local residents. Special poojas were held. The stones are found only on the riverbanks of Kali Gandaki River that flows through Myagdi and Mustang districts. The stones brought to Ayodhya originated from Damodar Kund and is situated at a height of 6000 feet above sea level.
It is heard that the stones are crores of years old. The two boulders weigh around 30 and 15 tons. They were brought in heavy trucks from Janakpur in Nepal.
