'10-day tourist visa for Rs 1000'; Oman's intriguing offer for Indians

MUSCAT: In a bid to attract more Indians to overhaul the tourism sector, Oman is granting 10-day tourist visas to Indians for just five riyals (roughly Rs. 1000). Air services from major Indian cities, less than three hours’ flight time, cheap accommodation and opportunity to visit heritage sites, comprise the attractive offers levelled up by Oman to boost the tourism sector.

Oman is just a two-and-a-half-hour air travel from Kochi.

As part of the project, the Ministry of Tourism of Oman organized campaign programs in Indian cities. The campaign conducted in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru received great acceptance among the public. More than 100 Indian companies participated in the event. It was agreed in the meeting that proper campaign programs will be conducted in Indian markets highlighting Oman tourism.

More than 200 travel and tourism organizations from Oman were also part of the event. As part of the campaign, Oman Heritage and Tourism Ministry Under Secretary Azzan Qassim Al-Busaidi and Indian Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat held a meeting.
