TEHRAN: Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir has arrived in Iran to convey a message from the United States and to mediate the second round of peace talks. The Pakistani delegation also includes Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. An earlier round of peace talks mediated by Pakistan had failed.
According to reports, the second round of talks may begin tomorrow, but there is no official confirmation yet. Ahead of the discussions, the Pakistani delegation has reached Tehran, the capital of Iran, to convey the conditions that the United States plans to place before Iran.
The report also said that issues related to a ceasefire need urgent discussion. Earlier, US President Donald Trump had said that the war with Iran was nearing an end. He made the statement in an interview with Fox News. Trump had also claimed that the US had achieved its objectives in the conflict with Iran.
