Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan said that the death of Salim Kumar was like losing a brother.   "Salim Kumar was much more than a man who brought laughter to people's lives. We shared a deep personal bond. He was a source of pride for my hometown and a person who was never afraid to speak openly about his beliefs. Even while facing hardships, he remained firm in his political convictions. He was a courageous artist who never hesitated to say that he was a Congress supporter.    Malayalam cinema has lost a gifted artist, and I have lost someone as close as a brother.
