ALAPPUZHA: A festive evening turned into a tragedy in Alappuzha after a 42-year-old woman died following a venomous snake bite. The incident is the latest in a series of snake attacks reported across the state today.

The primary tragedy involves Selina (42), a resident of Cheravally, Kayamkulam, who passed away on Thursday night. Selina had reached her relative’s house in Kottukulangara at 6:00 PM to attend a wedding reception. Around 7:30 PM, as she went to the field where she had parked her scooter to return home, she was bitten by a snake hidden in the area. She immediately informed those nearby of the attack and was rushed to the Kayamkulam Taluk Hospital, but she ultimately succumbed to the venom. While locals conducted a search of the field immediately following the incident, the snake could not be found due to the darkness. Selina was the wife of Nazim, the secretary of the Vyapari Vyavasayi Samithi.

Multiple attacks reported in Thiruvananthapuram

In addition to the fatality in Alappuzha, two other snake bite incidents were reported in Thiruvananthapuram district today, though fortunately, both victims are currently stable.
