THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actress Ranjini responded to the allegations against Swetha Menon, who is contesting for the post of president in AMMA. Such fake cases are being filed because she is contesting for the president’s post, said the actress while responding to a channel on the issue.
'There are such experiences from the beginning. I was surprised after hearing that a case has been registered. How can a court demand to file a case. This is a baseless case. As per rules of AMMA, one cannot contest polls. This is a deliberate act by a power group. A power group was mentioned in the Hema Committee? They are doing this. Such things have occurred before in the film industry. Didn't the same thing happen to Sandra Thomas? Only a tribunal can correct this,' clarified Ranjini.
The Ernakulam Central Police registered a case against the actress. The action was taken following the directions of the Ernakulam CJM court on a complaint filed by Martin Menachery of Thoppumpady. The case is under Section 67 (A) of the IT Act and the Prohibition of Unethical Activities Act. The complainant approached the court listing out many films like Rathinirvetham, Paleri Manikyam and Kalimannu and a condom brand advertisement alleging clips from these have appeared on social media and pornographic websites.
