India government announces ceasefire with Pakistan; no third party involved in talks, says statement

NEW DELHI: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that a ceasefire agreement has been reached with Pakistan. Military operations by the land, air and naval forces have been stopped. Vikram Misri also announced that the ceasefire agreement has come into effect from 5 pm today. He stated in a press conference that instructions have been given to both countries in this regard and that the Director Generals of Military Operations will hold talks again on May 13.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire. He confirmed this a while ago through his social media page. Trump wrote in the post that the agreement was reached after a long night of talks. A full and immediate ceasefire has been announced. Trump also congratulated both countries for using common sense and great intelligence.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's talks with both countries also became crucial. Marco Rubio had spoken to the Indian Foreign Minister and the Pakistani Army Chief. Marco Rubio posted on X that he and the US Vice President had held talks with India and Pakistan. International intervention was active to ease the escalating India-Pakistan tension. In addition to Marco Rubio's talks with the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan, Saudi Arabia also came forward with a consensus move to end the military confrontation.
