'Some issues are happening around me'; Vijay breaks silence on divorce reports

CHENNAI: Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay has responded for the first time about the divorce petition filed by his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam. Speaking at TVK's Women's Day celebration, Vijay said that he would personally handle the issues currently being discussed about him.

"Some issues are happening around me. I will take care of them. You need not worry about it. It hurts me when you feel sad about these matters. These issues are not that important," Vijay said.

Reports say that Vijay’s wife Sangeetha filed for divorce, alleging that the actor had a relationship with another actress. Rumours on social media claimed that the actress involved was Trisha Krishnan. However, Vijay had not responded to these reports earlier.

According to reports, the problems in Vijay and Sangeetha's marriage began as early as 2021. Sangeetha reportedly wanted a divorce by mutual consent, but Vijay was initially not ready for it. It is said that he feared a separation could affect his political future. Following this, Sangeetha approached the court with the divorce petition.

Reports also claim that Vijay has offered Rs 250 crore as compensation for Sangeetha and their children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha. However, it is not yet clear how the amount will be divided.

Meanwhile, photos of Vijay and Trisha attending a wedding together recently went viral on social media. The actors attended the wedding reception of the son of film producer Kalpathi S Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh. Their appearance together gained attention as it came amid the ongoing divorce rumours.
