CHENNAI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay saw his political future suddenly taking a hit after his wife Sangeetha filed for a divorce. TVK has ordered district-level office bearers and IT wing members to completely stay away from social media. The party has given an ultimatum to members to make no comments or discuss the issue.

The party's general secretary N Anand, has issued a circular asking party workers not to participate in television debates, live interviews or YouTube discussions without the party's prior permission.

However, some activists are expressing dissatisfaction over the inability to counter criticism raised against the party in public. The office bearers were instructed to suspend their social media activities by Saturday. The petition filed by Sangeetha in the Chengalpettu family court contains serious allegations against Vijay. The petition alleged Vijay of extramarital affair with another actress since 2021 and also causing mental torture to the petitioner.

Meanwhile, after coming under cyber-attack following the incident, actress Trisha’s old interview went viral, where she explained the reason behind calling off her engagement with businessman Varun Manian.

'The person I was going to marry told me to quit acting. I decided it was wise not to marry him rather than quit the movie industry. I want to act till my last breath,” said Trisha.
