Karipur gold smuggling: Arrested cabin crew member smuggled gold worth Rs 4.5 crore

KARIPUR: The crucial statement in the gold smuggling case at the Kozhikode airport involving an Air India cabin crew member has been released. As per the statement, gold was smuggled six times. This is around eight and a half kg of gold worth around Rs 4.5 crore.

Navaneet Singh, 28, a cabin crew member and a native of Delhi, was taken into custody yesterday. A total of 1399 grams of gold was recovered from him. A mixture was hidden in the shoes of Navaneet. 1226 grams of gold was extracted from it. Gold worth Rs 63.56 lakh was seized. Navaneet is the Dubai-Kozhikode Air India Excise cabin crew member. He was arrested by Air India Customs Intelligence. The gold was brought from Dubai.
