Stepmother’s brutality in Palakkad; burns girl’s private parts with hot spatula for wetting bed

PALAKKAD: A five-year-old girl was branded with a hot spatula at home by her step-mother, angry over the child wetting her bed. The woman has been arrested for burning the girl’s private parts. The incident happened at Walayar in Palakkad. The Walayar police took Noor Nazar (Ruby 35) of Bihar staying in Kanjikode into custody. The police have registered the statement of the girl’s father Muhammed Imtiaz of Nepal. Noor is his second wife. The incident happened on January 2.

The teachers noticed the girl, who was burned seriously, finding difficult to sit in her Anganawadi class. The teacher who saw the serious burns on the girl’s private parts immediately informed the childline and police.

The Walayar police took the woman Noor Nazar into custody based on the teacher’s information. A case has been registered against the accused under the Juvenile Justice Act. The accused produced in the court has been remanded. The investigation has revealed that the accused used to beat the child constantly. The child's health condition is being monitored.
