THRISSUR: In a chilling incident driven by obsession, a 37-year-old man narrowly survived a premeditated murder attempt in Puthukkad. The accused, identified as Cyril (36), allegedly plotted to eliminate Teenas Davis to pursue a relationship with the victim's wife.
The attack took place last Friday evening outside a local gymnasium. According to law enforcement, Cyril had meticulously tracked the victim’s routine. As Davis exited the gym around 7:30 PM, Cyril ambushed him, delivering a series of brutal blows to the head with a hammer.
CCTV footage recovered from the scene shows Davis collapsing instantly after the first strike. The assailant reportedly continued the assault while the victim lay unconscious. Davis is currently in critical condition at a private hospital following emergency surgery.
Police investigations reveal a high degree of planning. Cyril had reportedly waited for two hours at the site before striking. To evade immediate capture, he initially fled the scene on a bicycle before switching to a motorcycle parked at a distance.
The investigation further disclosed that Cyril had purchased the murder weapon from Chalakudy and was carrying petrol at the time of the attack. During interrogation, the accused confessed to a gruesome plan: he intended to kill Davis and subsequently incinerate the body to destroy evidence.
The motive has been linked to Cyril's acquaintance with the victim’s wife. The accused informed investigators that he sought to "remove" Davis from the picture to facilitate a life with her. The police have registered a case of attempted murder, and further proceedings are underway.
