KOCHI: A case has been registered against H Mujeeb, a Grade SI at the Elamakkara Police Station in Ernakulam, for allegedly extorting Rs 1.5 lakh from a private hospital doctor. The officer is currently on the run.

According to the complaint, Mujeeb threatened a 35-year-old doctor from Pathanamthitta, claiming the doctor’s name appeared on the call list of a drug case accused. The extortion reportedly took place over a month through repeated phone calls and direct threats.

This is not the first time Mujeeb has faced such allegations. Previously, a female doctor filed a complaint against him for sexual harassment and similar threats. Although that case was transferred to the Kochi City Police, the complainant did not pursue it further at the time. Following this, the male doctor came forward with his grievance to senior police officials.

Mujeeb, a native of Kollam, had been moved to the police camp after the first complaint. He went missing shortly after the second case was registered. Meanwhile, investigators are also looking into whether the drug case accused orchestrated these complaints to divert attention away from other high-profile clients.
